Efforts to have the Queen’s Golden Jubilee clock in Alton restored have hit a snag.
Alton resident Paul Turner asked Alton Town Council to look into it last April. The clock above Alton Nails in the High Street was presented to the town by Alton Rotary Club in 2003 but has not worked for some time. One face shows 2.35 and the other 8.10.
Town clerk Leah Coney said: “We obtained consent from the owner of the building upon which the clock is located to examine it, but the electricity feed to it is live and our electrician is unable to ascertain the source of the feed to safely disconnect it to remove the clock from its current location.
“Endeavours to be able to remove the clock therefore remain ongoing.”
