ALTON and District Swimming Club (ADSC) – a friendly club which covers the Alton, Petersfield and Bordon area – fielded a strong team in the Hampshire County Amateur Swimming Association 2018 County Championships.

The event, split over three weekends and held at Portsmouth’s 50 metre Mountbatten Centre and Waterlooville’s Horizon 25 metre pool, saw Alton’s qualifying swimmers head-to-head with peers across Hampshire – a county which produces strong swimmers.

In total 29 ADSC swimmers competed in the event, with two gold medals won by Lottie Jackson in the 13 years old age group, three silver medals and nine bronze medals.

Jackson won two silver medals, and Mia Spencer won the other silver medal in the 15 years old age group.

Thomas Duddridge won three bronze medals in the 12 years old age group, while Jackson and Spencer also won bronze medals.

Katherine George won a bronze medal in the 16 years old age group, and girls’ club captain Rebecca Alder won a bronze medal in the 17 years old and over age group.

Eighty-nine ADSC personal best times were beaten and ADSC swimmers fielded 31 individual swims in the finals for the under 200 metre races.

For the club’s younger swimmers who qualified, swimming at county level was a first taste of what it is like to race against the best from other clubs across the county.
