On a perfect day to be at the seaside three Haslemere Border Athletics Club (HBAC) athletes took part in the Brighton Half Marathon.

First home of the HBAC trio was Steve Taylor in 1:36.10, followed by Sammy French in 1:53.28 and Helen Crainey in 2:54.28.

Another HBAC trio ran Bramley 10 and 20 races. Charlotte Finden opted for the 10 and ran a superb race to finish in 1:22.22. Philomel Bennett ran the 20 in a new HBAC V50 course record time of 2:49.44, and Tom Bampton finished in 3:14.07.

On a glorious sunny spring morning in Kingston, five Haslemere Border athletes were setting themselves up for a race with the added incentive of breakfast at the end.

Distances ranged from eight to 20 miles, and Clodagh Burke and Gemma Reeder finished the 20-mile race in 2:50.17 and 4:06.44 respectively.

Duds Walker finished the 16-mile race in 2:28.33 and Sam Walker and Tina Fairminer finished the eight-mile race in 1:17.40 and 1:57.24 respectively.

Sarah Smith ran the Steyning Stinger 30km trail race, taking in 2,084ft of elevation and fabulous views of the South Downs Way. Sarah ran a superb race to finish in 2:48.16.

The Sutton family went back to their routes to take part in the Paddock Wood Half Marathon. Dad Stephen, who was a regular at the event, was accompanied by daughters Beth and Jazz – for Jazz this was her first half marathon.

With Beth accompanying Jazz on the undulating course, they finished in 2:08.52. With Stephen finishing in 1:57.31, it had been a good day out for the family.
