Alton Cycling Club have elected Becci May as their first female chair.

May takes over from Guy Henshaw, who stands down after five years.

The club also have a new president.

Departing president Ray Wood was instrumental in the regeneration of the club in the 1970s and was a long-time member of the committee.

He organised much of the racing, including competitive road races around Alton town centre.

Wood hands over the role to Alan Jacob, a long-standing Alton Cycling Club member who is still cycling in his 80s.

The club have also secured a sponsorship deal with Ventrus Networks Ltd.

Ventrus managing director Andy Chapman said: “We are excited to announce the beginning of a new partnership with Alton Cycling Club.

“We support Alton Cycling Club as it is run by volunteers who provide a friendly environment for cyclists of all ages.”

Ventrus join the club’s existing sponsors Owens Cycles (Right-Bike) and Hi-Tech Heating Ltd.
