Alton manager Kevin Adair was delighted with his side’s display after they won 3-2 at home to Redhill.

The Brewers produced a fine performance to beat the Lobsters, and Adair was delighted to claim the scalp of the Combined Counties Premier Division South leaders.

“When something like that happens it's really pleasing to know what you're doing is the right way,” said Adair.

“If you keep believing in it you'll get what you deserve.

“I think our performances this season have deserved that result.

“We've played all of the top five and other than when we went to Redhill and were outclassed by them we've matched the top five.

“That doesn't mean we're a top-five side, it just means we've got the ability to be there.

“Everything is really good on the pitch. We've got to where we wanted to be.

“We got there earlier last season – it's taken a bit of time this season.

“It's a big win but for us but can we get another three points at Corinthian-Casuals and finish the season the best way we can.”

Alton keeper Adam Melville made a stunning reaction save at 2-1 before the Brewers scored their third goal a minute later, and Adair was full of praise for his goalkeeper.

“The turning point of the game is Adam's save,” said Adair.

“It came at a time when Redhill were piling the pressure on.

“If they score then they probably go on and get another.

“That save is outstanding in my opinion – it is probably as good a save as you'll see.

“They're the margins that we haven't been able to cross.

“It makes such a difference.

“The group are so together at the minute. It takes time to get that.

“We've gone toe-to-toe with a top side.

“We knew they were going to be direct – they don't hide that.

“They know exactly what they want to do and how they do it. They've got willing runners off the ball.

“There were moments when we were exceptional with the ball – I thought our decision making was really good.

“The centre-halves were outstanding aerially and we picked up the second ball and didn’t allow Redhill to get that. That makes a difference.

“If you play with that intensity every week that will take you into the top six.”

The win against Redhill was Alton’s third in a row in the league, and Adair hopes his side can continue their good form.

“We've got to concentrate on going to Corinthian-Casuals and get three points,” said Adair.
