Badshot Lea manager Gavin Smith wants his side to convert good performances into positive results.

The Baggies lost 3-1 at home to Southall in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday, despite an impressive display.

The result leaves Smith’s side rooted to the bottom of the league, with two points from their opening 11 games.

The visitors took the lead in the 55th minute when Makael Scott fired home.

The Baggies won a penalty on 85 minutes and Lamin Ceesay kept his composure from the spot to get the home side back on level terms.

Southall regained the lead two minutes later through Kyal Williams, and Joshua Green made it 3-1 in stoppage time with a speculative shot from distance.

“It was a really positive performance and we had some good chances, but we need to be clinical when we have our moments in games and start picking up some results,” said Smith.”

New Baggies signing Alex Merrifield was named in the starting line-up for Saturday’s match, and Smith was pleased with the defender’s debut.

“Alex gives us leadership at the back and I’m delighted to get him in,” said Smith. “He will only get better as he plays more games.”

Next up for the Baggies is a trip to Moneyfields in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday (3pm).

Alton lost 3-1 at Redhill in the Combined Counties Premier Division South on Saturday.

Goals from Nathan Hogan (2) and Alex Keating put Redhill 3-0 up, before Adam Poynter pulled a goal back for the Brewers from the penalty spot.

Alton were also in action last Tuesday night (October 22), when they drew 1-1 at Fleet Town in the Combined Counties Premier Division South.

Danilo Cadete gave Fleet the lead in the ninth minute, but Owen Tanner’s 36th-minute equaliser earned Alton a point.
