Farnham Town have announced ambitious plans to redevelop the Clock End at the Memorial Ground.
The club plan to build a new stepped-standing terrace in the Clock End and have launched a GoFundMe fundraiser with the aim of raising £25,000. The club will match every penny donated to the fundraiser.
Over the past two years the club have made significant investments in their matchday experience. Two new stands – one seated and one stepped standing – have been built, and the club have installed club-coloured pitchside railings, a digital scoreboard, a media gantry, a new PA-system, a new pitchside toilet block, a new food court area and a renovated bar.
Attendances have grown significantly with the average gate at the Memorial Ground exceeding 500 in 2023-24, when the club secured promotion to the Isthmian League South Central Division and Step 4 for the first time in its 118-year history.
Promotion to Step 4 means the club cannot allow fans to stand on the grassy hill at the Clock End and will need to cordon this area off.
Farnham Town director Harry Hugo said: “This a league requirement and one we will adhere to. We will cordon off the grassy hill but there is no requirement for us to do anything else. We have all our ground grading in place and are looking forward to next season.
“We believe the Clock End is one of the most iconic and best places to watch non-league football in the country. The unique elevated vantage point gives fans the chance to watch the Town with an unparalleled view of the pitch.
“The Clock End is our next big infrastructure project, but there is no time limit on this and we won’t rush it. As always, we are looking ahead to the future and what improvements we can make. We will apply for planning permission and we expect the project to cost between £50,000 and £65,000.
“We wanted to involve the community in the project and we’ve got a sliding scale of rewards on offer depending on how much people donate. This ranges from fans having their name etched on a brick used to build the Clock End Terrace for a £50 donation to a ten-year season ticket, full pitch hire at the Memorial Ground for a post-season match and naming rights for the Clock End Terrace for the first three seasons for a £10,000 donation.”
