Whitchurch United 0 Petersfield Town 1: PETERSFIELD Town picked up an impressive 1-0 win at Whitchurch United last Wednesday night.
Will Webb started brightly and went straight at the hosts. He released Harry Tremlett, and keeper Konrad Szymaniak pushed Tremlett’s effort into a dangerous area before it was eventually cleared.
With 20 minutes on the clock the Rams took the lead. A good delivery from the right caused problems for Szymaniak, who flapped at the cross. A Rams effort was then met by Matt Low, who scored in a congested area.
The visitors controlled the game in the first half, with half-chances for Michael Wright and Marvin Orepo.
Whitchurch’s Aaron Randall sprayed a pass to Lloyd Thompson. He expertly cut in, but his effort was superbly blocked by Sean Burton.
New recruit Max Laws came off the bench and almost grabbed a goal on his debut. Getting in behind he showed good strength and pace, but his shot was turned away.
Whitchurch pushed forward in search of a late equaliser and a powerful long-range effort was clawed out by Matt Petts. Kris Stevens also did well to snuff out a chance as the Rams gained all three points.
