Harrison Cable’s hat-trick fired Petersfield Town to a dramatic 3-2 win at home to Horsham YMCA in the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division.

Two minutes before half-time Charlie Martin put the visitors ahead.

Poor defending meant a cross wasn’t cleared and Khalid Babikir headed the ball to Martin to prod in.

The Rams came out of the traps after the break and equalised in the 48th minute.

Some quick passing opened up the defence as Jack Farrier found Harry Sargeant. Sargeant’s shot should was spilled and Cable reacted first to prod in the rebound.

Cable then missed an excellent chance to put the Rams ahead. Max Allen worked a cross to the back post and Cable put his effort over the crossbar.

Ashley Dugdale hit the post for the visitors and they regained the lead after 80 minutes through a well-crafted goal. Babikir’s flicked found Martin, who placed his shot beyond Rams keeper Kieran Connell.

The Rams equalised in the 85th minute.

Liam Kimber won the ball and played it wide to Allen, and Allen’s cross picked out Cable at the back post who found the top corner.

The winner followed in added time. Kimber played a through ball to Cable, who bore down on goal and was brought down by Horsham keeper Tiwa Fujamade.

Cable despatched the penalty to complete his hat-trick and seal the three points.

The dramatic win against Horsham YMCA followed a disappointing 3-1 defeat for Petersfield at Midhurst & Easebourne.

The Rams took the lead on 30 minutes when Asad Ssemwogerere’s effort found the far corner.

Aaron O’Brien equalised in the 37th minute when his finish found the roof of the net, before Owen Sheriff headed the hosts in front from a corner just before half-time.

Midhurst & Easebourne put the game to bed in the second half when George Bowerman’s strike beat Rams keeper Kieran Connell.
