Haslemere’s women’s first team slipped to a 4-2 defeat at Havant in South Central Women’s Premier Division Two.

Haslemere produced a spirited performance but ultimately fell to defeat in a competitive and well-contested match.

The game started brightly for Haslemere, with the team asserting control in the opening 20 minutes.

Their early dominance paid off around the ten-minute mark when Alice Toynton struck a powerful shot from the top of the D to give Haslemere a deserved lead.

However, as the half progressed, Havant found their rhythm and began to apply pressure.

A clinical spell before the break saw them strike three times, turning the game on its head and sending Haslemere into half-time trailing 3-1.

Undeterred, Haslemere regrouped and continued to battle hard in the second half.

Their efforts were rewarded 20 minutes in when Cindi Pretorious finished off a flowing team move with a diving effort.

With the game poised at 3-2, Haslemere pushed for an equaliser, but Havant struck again to put the game beyond Haslemere’s reach.

Haslemere bounced back from that defeat with a 2-1 win against Sonning at The Edge.

The home side took the lead through Alice Toynton’s excellent shot from the top of the D after some excellent build-up play down the left-hand side of the pitch.

Sonning pushed hard for an equaliser and were awarded a short corner, but were thwarted by a superb save from Jo Burder.

Haslemere won two short corners in quick succession but could not find the back of the net.

Five minutes before half-time, Haslemere’s third short corner was slapped hard by Cleo Buirski and helped into the net by a Sonning defender.

Haslemere deserved their 2-0 lead, but Sonning pulled a goal back two minutes before half-time to make it 2-1.

The visitors pushed hard for an equaliser in the second half, but Haslemere held on to claim the three points.

Haslemere’s men’s first team picked up an impressive 3-2 win at Trojans in South Central Men’s Premier Division One.

With only a point separating the teams at the start of the day and only four games remaining, the match promised to be a key fixture.

Haslemere started well, moving the ball around and producing some of their best hockey of the season.

The backline held firm under a high press and some excellent outletting allowed the midfield and forwards to win their one-on-one battles.

The scoring was opened by Richie, who converted a short corner with an excellent drag flick.

Haslemere added a second when Max beat his man to create a two-on-one. A quick one-two with a composed Ben Smith and a diving finish from Max saw Haslemere head into half-time 2-0 up.

Trojans came out fired up in the second half, with a change of structure and renewed intensity, and the hosts scored two quick goals to get back on level terms.

A small change in structure from Haslemere helped the visitors wrestle control of the game back and put Trojans under pressure.

Haslemere regained the lead when Alfie Richards dispossessed a Trojans defender on the baseline and beat two defenders with a superb piece of skill before smashing home a reverse-stick shot from a tight angle.

Haslemere closed out the game with keeper Ben Powell making a number of saves from short corners.
