Haslemere’s women’s first team picked up an impressive 4-0 win at Banbury in South Central Women’s Premier Division Two on Saturday.

The visitors started quickly, with Banbury clearing the ball off the line in the first 30 seconds.

Haslemere maintained the pressure and had several attempts working around the D, forcing several good saves from the Banbury keeper.

The first goal came from a short corner awarded to Haslemere and a deflection off a Banbury player from a straight strike from Cindi Pretorius.

After more attacks on the Banbury D, Haslemere were awarded another short corner which was deflected through the goalkeeper’s legs by Alice Toynton.

Toynton nearly scored another goal through a reverse hit, but the whistle went for half-time before the ball crossed the line.

The second half started a little more lethargically, but Haslemere found their groove and won several short corners.

The visitors scored two goals in the second half. Cleo Buirski got her name on the scoresheet and Pretorius slotted her second home after a superb pass from Emilie Barton.

After a flurry of Banbury short corners, Haslemere soaked up the rest of the home team’s pressure to keep a clean sheet.

Haslemere’s women will host Havant on Saturday (2pm).
