HERNE Farm Leisure Centre hosted the Haslemere and District Table Tennis Association’s finals day.

Twenty-five contestants had competed in various categories on a previous day at The Edge Leisure Centre in Haslemere to earn the right to compete for the top prizes in the Haslemere league. In the veterans’ (over-50) final Adrian Sharp (Fernhurst) beat Paul Tanton (Haslemere) in five sets. Next up was the Division 2 and below final, where Julian Hawkins (Petersfield) beat Richard Abbey in four sets. The Woolmer Pairs doubles final saw Ross Lingard and Neil Whitlock (Petersfield) beat Richard Johnston and Paul Tanton (Haslemere) in four sets. In the open singles final Ross Lingard faced Tim Hampton. Both players are members of the Petersfield A team, and Lingard won the first set 11-8. Hampton won the next two sets, before Lingard won the fourth and fifth sets to take the title.
