PETERSFIELD Hockey Club sent a strong squad of under-12 boys to the toughest tournament of the hockey calendar, Hampshire Hockey’s In2Hockey tournament.

Petersfield were placed in Pool A with Alton, Romsey and Portsmouth.

Petersfield started their campaign in lacklustre fashion and were soon chasing an Alton lead. With only eight minutes to claw back a goal Petersfield dominated, but they could not get the ball to the back of the net as they slipped to defeat.

The next game was a comfortable win against Romsey, and Portsmouth didn’t turn up to the tournament so Petersfield ended the pool stage in second place and went through to the quarter finals.

Petersfield faced Havant, who had topped Pool B, in the quarter finals.

The evenly-matched teams battled their way through the 12 minutes in a nail-biting match. In the nick of time Petersfield broke and scored a goal to seal their place in the semi finals.

Petersfield faced a strong Trojans side in the semi finals.

Trojans dominated the play and scored a number of goals which took them to the final, which they won.

Petersfield finished their tournament by playing the bronze medal match against Fareham.

Fareham took the lead, but Petersfield went on the attack and with moments to spare they scored a goal to take the match to penalties.

Under pressure, Petersfield’s penalty takers and goalkeeper clinched the win to seal the bronze medal.
