Gosport Ladies III 3 Petersfield Ladies III 3: PETERSFIELD Ladies’ third team went to sunny Gosport hoping for a first point of the season.
Petersfield started strongly and had the upper hand over Gosport. The hosts were not able to match Petersfield’s speed on the wings and Purkiss slid the first goal in.
Gosport were not disheartened and fought back. Petersfield missed a few easy passes and Gosport took advantage to gain a penalty corner. Stockley saved the first shot perfectly, but the rebound was put too far in the corner for her. Gosport scored again soon afterwards when they broke with speed through the defence. Gosport quickly followed this up with a third.
Petersfield moved the team around at half time to try to recover from the two-goal deficit. With defender Hardwick moved to the right wing there was more speed at the front and Petersfield used this well. A hit from Lowe found Preston in the centre, who swiftly passed to Purkiss to convert. Only a few minutes later a perfect pass from Geer on the left found Purkiss again to complete her hat-trick and bring Petersfield level at 3-3.
