Farnham won 33-11 at Chobham on Saturday to extend their lead at the top of Regional Two South Central.

Farnham received the kick off with a cold wind blowing from corner to corner.

Chobham strung some good phases together and Farnham were adjudged offside. The hosts successfully kicked the penalty to go 3-0 up.

Chobham’s fly half then received a huge hit from Sam Voight.

Joe Wigmore scooped up the loose ball and cantered in under the posts to score a converted try.

Farnham exited well from the restart, disrupting the resulting lineout.

The visitors produced multiple phases before Greg Franzell went over from close range.

A successful conversion from skipper Toby Salmon put Farnham 14-3 up with just over 20 minutes gone.

Chobham then made good progress into the Farnham 22 and their pick and go game started to cause problems.

Eventually the pressure told and Chobham moved the ball into the wide channel to get the score.

The conversion failed to reach the uprights because of the wind.

Farnham saw out the rest of the half to lead 14-8 at half-time.

Chobham made some good progress into Farnham territory after the break, winning a scrum penalty bang in front of the posts.

The three points on offer were well taken to make the score 14-11.

Farnham realised that they need to play more in the opposition’s half and were rewarded with a penalty after some probing carries.

A quick tap resulted in the industrious Benjy Biggs diving over out wide.

A superb kick from Salmon added the extras to make it 21-11 and give Farnham some breathing room.

Farnham then won a penalty from a lineout.

Jonny Vincent tapped and delicately lifted the ball for Shawa Rai to come charging through and barge over and make it 26-11.

Franzell then bundled over for his second and Farnham’s fifth try of the afternoon.

Another excellent kick from Salmon made it 33-11.

Farnham are seven points clear at the top of Regional Two South Central after Tottonians’ fixture against North Dorset was postponed because of Storm Darragh.

Farnham will host Guildford at Wilkinson Way on Saturday.
