Farnham Rugby Club Falcons’ women’s first team slipped to a 19-17 defeat at home to Supermarine Ladies in Women’s NC One South West (East).

There were many big hits, and good hard lines run by both teams.

With the blow of the first whistle, the Falcons began by pushing the visitors back towards their try line, but Supermarine cleared the danger with a goal-line drop out.

Both teams were unrelenting in their gameplay.

Some impressive tackles, line breaks and ball handling saw the Falcons open the scoring with an excellent team try to go 5-0 up. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

After a quick restart the Falcons kept up the momentum and scored another try four minutes later to go 10-0 up against a strong Supermarine side.

Supermarine's scrum was their main weapon, and they used their power to their advantage to even up the points on the scoreboard.

A conversion in front of the posts put the visitors 12-10 ahead before the end of the first half.

An excellent kick chase by scrum half Tegan saw her score Farnham’s third try. Zoe added the conversion to put the Falcons 17-12 ahead.

Supermarine then edged towards the Farnham try line and got the ball over the line. The conversion sealed a 19-17 win for the visitors.

Next up for the Falcons’ first team is an away game at Reading Kites in Women’s NC One South West (East) on Sunday, November 17.
