Petersfield crashed to an emphatic 50-22 defeat at Tottonians in South Central Two on Saturday.
The visitors started brightly and Nick Blumlein calmly slotted a penalty from 15 metres to put Petersfield 3-0 up.
Tottonians responded with a converted try and soon scored their second converted try to go 14-3 up.
Tottonians were reduced to 14 players on 20 minutes when their fly-half received a yellow card for an offence at a ruck.
Despite the numerical advantage Petersfield were unable to capitalise, while Tottonians prospered from their visitors’ mistakes and their own close support play to cross the line again for an unconverted try.
Tottonians then prospered from missed Petersfield tackles to score a converted try and go 26-3 up.
The home side were then back to 15 players, but Petersfield responded through prop Dan Sargent, who crashed over to score a converted try.
With a couple of minutes left in the first half a Tottonians player received a yellow card for hands in the ruck.
From the second half kick-off Petersfield camped in the home side’s half while they were reduced to 14 players, although they were unable to force a scoring move.
Tottonians scored a converted try thanks to close support, slick handling and decisive running.
The hosts then broke through from the restart to score an unconverted try in the right-hand corner.
Tottonians soon scored another unconverted try, before a converted try put the hosts 50-10 up.
Petersfield’s Miles Sampson stepped through a tackle to score a try to the left of the posts.
Blumlein drop kicked a successful conversion to make the score 50-17.
Petersfield winger Ethan Horsfall then chipped through past his opposite number and won the footrace to dive on the ball over the line for an unconverted try.
Petersfield will host local rivals Chichester at Penns Place on Saturday.
