Three people have been arrested following a vicious late night assault at a Clanfield pub that left a man with fractured ribs and a punctured lung.

Two men had reportedly become aggressive to people in The Rising Sun before assaulting a man in his 50s shortly before midnight on Saturday (July 6).

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment with police later arresting two men from Waterlooville on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The males, aged 52 and 40, remain in custody at the time of writing along with a 39-year-old woman from Waterlooville arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or was in the pub in the run-up to the incident.
