A case involving a Hampshire police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Clanfield while on duty has been dismissed.
Liam Porter was charged with sexual assault on a female following an incident in the East Hampshire village on January 18, 2022.
The 42-year-old was suspended from duty after being accused of intentionally touching a woman without her consent in a charge he’s always denied.
But the case against him has been dropped as no evidence was offered by the Crown Prosecution Service when he recently appeared at City Nightingale Court in central London.
The application to discontinue the case was made after the complainant withdrew her support for the investigation due to “numerous delays in the court process” and her availability to attend court on the trial dates proposed.
Hampshire Police have reported that PC Porter remains suspended from duty while the matter is reviewed internally.
