Local schools, groups and individuals have been busy collecting plastic tubs as part of a recycling campaign.

Greene King’s annual Tub2Pub returned between January and February, collecting empty plastic confectionery and cracker tubs with proceeds donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

On social media, ASDA Waterlooville, thanked people for the 2,254 plastic tubs that had been sent in.

The store said: “A huge thank you to The New Blendworth Centre, Woodcroft Primary School - Lovedean, Clanfield Junior School and the countless other groups and individuals whose photo we didn’t get and saved their tubs for the campaign.”

The tubs will be taken to a specialist reprocessing centre where they’ll be shredded and sold to plastic manufacturers, proceeds from the sale will then go to Macmillan.
