A popular scheme will return to Petersfield in the New Year and will provide an opportunity for people to get their dream gift.

The Petersfield Climate Action Network (PeCAN) and Winton House Centre are running the Christmas present exchange again.

If you received something for Christmas that you don’t want, you can exchange the item for something you do want.

You can deliver your unwanted gifts (in good condition) to Winton House any weekday from January 7th to January 17 from 9.30am to 3.30pm and collect your token. Then on Saturday, January 18 between 9.30am and midday, you return to select an exchange gift. Alternatively, you could donate your token so that someone else in the community can choose a present.

PeCAN said: “Approximately £4 billion is spent on entirely unwanted gifts each year. This is equivalent to 4.8 million tonnes of CO2 produced from unwanted gifts nationally.

“The aim of the Present Exchange is to reduce waste and provide a route for nice but unneeded gifts to find a new home where they will be more appreciated. One person’s trash is another's treasure, and anything left over will be donated to charity.”

Winton House is located at 18 High Street, Petersfield. The Winton House Centre is a registered charity and it is important to note that organisers might reject unsuitable items.
