Petersfield will mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day next month - to remember the end of the Second World War.
The Town Council is inviting the community to commemorate the occasion with a service on Thursday, May 8 at The Square.
The schedule is as follows:
- 9.45am: Main parade forms at War Memorial
- 10am: Two-minute silence
- 10.02am: Wreath laying
- 10.05am: Parade led by piper to town square
- 10.15am: Proclamation by town crier followed by Open Air Service
- 10.45am: Dismissal and invitation to Rose Room at Festival Hall
A Town Council spokesperson said: “We will honour the courage and sacrifice of those who lived through the war, and reflect on the peace and freedoms we enjoy today. It is a chance to connect with neighbours, celebrate our history, and pay tribute to the sacrifice of past generations.”
