Fitness fans around East Hampshire are feeling pumped as a 24-hour gym has opened in Alton.

PureGym opened on Mill Lane on Friday, November 22, after ten weeks of hard work and fitting out.

Alton mayor, Cllr Annette Eyre, cut the ribbon alongside Alton Lions Chairman John Mill and the gym’s general manager, Dale Hooper.

Cllr Eyre said: “It is an amazing building with lots of activities, and I have no excuse now not to come down and exercise.”

The firm’s openings manager, Jason Creed, gathered staff before the grand opening to thank them for their efforts in making the Alton branch the 394th PureGym in the country.

Staff were treated to a non-alcoholic toast and received a thank-you card in recognition of their work.

Eager crowds gathered at midday with weights being lifted and treadmills up and running within minutes.

Mr Hooper said: “We are very excited to be here, and we’ve got lots of local businesses showcasing what they do as well. We can’t wait to meet you all.”

Various local businesses, including Skin Wrkout, Real Beauty with Robyn, and many others, offered exclusive deals for new customers.

Harrison from Skin Wrkout said: “We are here at PureGym Alton for the grand opening to give members a special day and show off some of our products.”

To celebrate the launch, PureGym is offering a special deal of £18.99 per month for the first six months, plus a £15 joining fee for core membership.
