Aldershot Town Football Club have confirmed that Lorent Tolaj has joined League Two side Port Vale for an undisclosed fee which activated the striker's release clause.
The 23-year-old departs the Shots after an impressive 2023-24 season in front of goal – when he scored 25 goals in 49 games.
Tolaj joined the Shots last summer on a free transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion having scored just once in senior men's football, but quickly settled in well to life at the EBB Stadium.
The Swiss striker scored a double at the EBB Stadium in Aldershot’s opening-day 5-2 win against Oxford City and scored five goals – including a superb hat-trick against Lewes – in the Shots’ FA Cup run.
Tolaj said: “Thank you to the fans, the coaching staff and my team-mates. It was an unforgettable season for me. I will now be an Aldershot fan and I wish the club all the best for the new season.”
Aldershot Town first-team manager Tommy Widdrington said: “We as a club should be proud that we’ve been a part of the journey for Lorent.
“I believe there are so many young players out there just needing a chance or a platform, and Lorent should be an example to all lads who don’t get their break at higher levels that with the right application and environment you can bounce back.”
The Shots wished Tolaj the best of luck in his future and thanked him for his contributions to the club during his year at the EBB Stadium.
