Badshot Lea earned a second successive draw as they drew 1-1 at home to Metropolitan Police in the Isthmian League South Central Division.
Laurence Ernest’s 43rd-minute own goal gave the Baggies a first-half lead, but the visitors equalised in the second half to earn a share of the spoils at Westfield Lane.
The Baggies started the match on the front foot and created their first chance of the evening in the eighth minute when Luis Le Paih’s shot from 25 yards out went over the bar.
The hosts continued to press and went close on 16 minutes when Finlay Evans got in behind the Met’s defence and hit a right-foot shot which was well saved by visiting keeper Liam Beach at his near post.
The Met won a free kick in a dangerous area in the 21st minute, but Louis Degand fired his effort well over the bar.
Evans created the Baggies’ next opportunity on 27 minutes when he received the ball in the right-hand channel and cut the ball back to Jaheim Kamara, who showed some neat footwork before hitting a right-foot effort which was well held by Beach.
The visitors went close to breaking the deadlock six minutes later when Benjamin Mendoza’s left-foot shot across goal went just wide of the far post.
The Baggies took the lead in the 43rd minute when Kamara rose highest at the back post and his header back across goal was sliced into his own net by Ernest.
The Met got back on level terms on 61 minutes when Mendoza’s spectacular effort from the edge of the box flew into the top left-hand corner of the net.
The hosts nearly regained the lead six minutes later when Kamara was through one-on-one with Beach, but the visiting keeper showed good reactions to make a smart save.
The Met went straight back down the other end of the pitch and Jamal Sharpe cut in from the left and hit a right-foot effort which was well blocked by Baggies keeper Harry Cawdron.
The visitors quickly recycled the ball and Mason Galloway’s powerful close-range shot forced a good reaction save from Cawdron.
The Baggies had a decent chance on 84 minutes when Charlie George’s effort went wide of the right-hand post.
The hosts went close again in stoppage time when Evans’ powerful effort forced a good save from Beach.
The Baggies went close again when Le Paih’s header was tipped over the bar by Beach as honours finished even.
