Farnham Town claimed the Coxbridge Derby bragging rights with a 2-1 win against Badshot Lea in the Isthmian League South Central Division.
The Baggies took an early lead through Charlie George, but goals from Jordan Gallagher and Ryan Kinnane gave the league leaders the three points in front of a crowd of 1,020 at The Memorial Ground.
The visitors upset the form book early on and took the lead in spectacular style in the third minute when George picked out the top right-hand corner from 25 yards out.
Town got back on level terms on 11 minutes when Gallagher received the ball just outside the box and curled a superb right-foot shot past Baggies keeper Ryan North and into the top right-hand corner of the net.
Farnham nearly took the lead in the 26th minute when Gallagher slipped a pass through to Harry Cooksley, who hit his left-foot effort straight at North.
The Baggies created a good opportunity on 37 minutes when George headed wide at the back post from a corner.
Town won a free kick in a promising position in the 41st minute, but Cooksley’s effort was straight at North.
Farnham went close again in first-half stoppage time when Darryl Sanders’ effort was well blocked by the advancing North.
Town were quick out of the blocks at the start of the second half and took the lead in the 47th minute.
Cooksley’s free kick found Sanders, who whipped the ball across to Kinnane and Kinnane emphatically drilled his finish into the back of the net from close range.
Farnham nearly went 3-1 up on 51 minutes when Cooksley’s hanging cross from the left picked out Owen Dean at the back post, but Dean’s header back across goal went just wide.
Town boss Paul Johnson introduced fresh legs in the 66th minute, with Giovanni Palmer and Sam De St Croix replacing Jack Dean and Sanders.
The Baggies created a decent chance on 68 minutes when Finlay Evans’ left-foot shot from a tight angle was well held by Farnham keeper Hugo Sobte.
Farnham made their third substitution in the 72nd minute, with Mark Waters replacing Gallagher.
Town nearly scored a third on 78 minutes when Joe Jackson’s pass released De St Croix who tried to beat North with an early finish, but his effort was straight at Badshot Lea’s keeper.
Baggies boss Gavin Smith made three substitutions late on, with Dwayne Clarke, Samuel Yabani and Aitor Andon replacing Baback Dehghani, David Garlinge and George.
Farnham’s Kai Tanner and Jack Marney came on for Cooksley and Adam Liddle late on as the home side claimed the three points.
Next up for Farnham is a home game against Moneyfields in the Isthmian League South Central Division on New Year’s Day (3pm kick-off).
