Ten-man Alton lost 4-2 at Combined Counties Premier Division South leaders AFC Whyteleafe on Saturday.

The Brewers took the lead in the seventh minute through Adam Poynter’s penalty after Poynter had been fouled in the box.

The game changed ten minutes later when the hosts were awarded a penalty for a foul by Jamie Hoppitt, who was sent off.

Ryan Gondoh converted the penalty to make it 1-1, and Joe Wotton was sent to the sin bin to leave Alton temporarily down to nine men.

The ten-man Brewers regained the lead on 42 minutes when Tolu Ajayi-Obe stroked the ball into the net after the hosts failed to clear a corner.

Gondoh made it 2-2 on 50 minutes, before Jamie Mascoll put the hosts ahead in the 64th minute.

Daniel Bennett made it 4-2 to Whyteleafe on 86 minutes, before Alton’s George Bennett was sent to the sin bin.

Alton will host Knaphill on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
