Farnham beat Guildford 29-0 on Saturday to remain seven points clear at the top of Regional Two South Central.

Farnham opened the scoring when winger Joe Wigmore went deep into the Guildford half before superbly finding the supporting Ben Stevens who rounded the trailing defenders with easy to dot down.

The home side were unable to add to their advantage before the break and had to settle for a 5-0 lead at half-time.

Farnham kicked off the second half and immediately put Guildford under pressure, disrupting their lineout and stealing the ball to begin a series of attacks in the visitors’ 22.

Good structure and patience followed before Jonny Vincent found a hole and went in under the sticks.

The easy conversion put Farnham 12-0 up.

Farnham then won a penalty and Toby Salmon stepped up to put his effort between the uprights from 30 metres out and put Farnham 15-0 up.

Toby Simmons then spotted some space and produced an excellent probing kick.

Farnham chased brilliantly and force a turnover, but Guildford failed to retreat ten metres and were shown a yellow card.

The home side opted for the scrum and a training ground set-up resulted in Max Williams piercing through a hole to go under the posts for Farnham’s third try.

The conversion put Farnham 22-0 up.

Guildford came roaring back and made decent inroads into the Farnham half and won a succession of penalties, and Farnham’s Greg Franzell was shown a yellow card.

Guildford were camped on the Farnham five-metre line but some resolute defending kept the visitors at bay.

Farnham secured the try bonus point through Marco Azevedo, who showed superb dexterity and a good turn of pace to dive in under the posts.

The conversion sealed Farnham’s 29-0 win.

Farnham will travel to Winchester on Saturday.
