Petersfield returned to winning ways with an emphatic 52-11 victory at home to Andover in Regional Two South Central on Saturday.
Petersfield kicked off with the winter sun behind them.
After a penalty at a scrum on the visitors’ 22 Petersfield tapped and sent the ball to the right touchline, from where it was passed quickly back for Matt Momber to power his way over the try line.
Nick Blumlein added the conversion.
From the restart Andover rumbled up field for Petersfield to infringe at the breakdown and the visitors successfully kicked a 40-metre penalty to make it 7-3.
Petersfield’s second try arrived when Eddie Matthews made 20 metres with the ball in hand and passed inside for Brad Caparo to score.
Eddie Matthews got on the scoresheet himself when he carved an angled approach to dot down close to the right post. Blumlein added the extras.
Eddie Matthews then sprinted 30 metres to score a converted try and put Field 26-3 up.
Oli Hunt received a yellow card for a high tackle just before half-time, meaning Petersfield would start the second half with 14 players.
Andover were awarded two penalties and kicked one to make the score 26-6.
Will Mathews crossed the whitewash after Petersfield won a lineout ball and Matt McLean charged 50 metres to offload inside for Will Mathews to complete the converted try.
Andover replied with an unconverted try, but Eddie Matthews completed his hat-trick when he touched down to the right of the posts. Blumlein added the extras.
James Barden then assisted Jack Janaway over the try line to make it 45-11.
The final score came when Ethan Horsfall ran on to an inside pass to round the defenders and place the ball down under the posts.
Petersfield will host Chobham at Penns Place on Saturday.
