Petersfield earned an impressive 38-12 win at home to Chichester in Regional Two South Central.
Petersfield soon dominated territory and possession and forced a scrum ten metres out from the posts.
Matt Momber picked the ball up behind an advancing pack to stretch over the line for the first try. Nick Blumlein added the conversion.
Petersfield then won lineout ball and the rolling maul pushed the Chichester defence close to their line where Dan Sargent broke through from ten metres to score an unconverted try.
Another dominant scrum by Petersfield 15 metres out from the posts saw the referee penalise Chichester for breaking their bind while being shoved back several metres.
Alex Duffus took a quick tap penalty and went on a determined run before making an inside pass to release Jack Janaway, who went over the line under the posts. Blumlein added the extras.
With five minutes to play in the half Petersfield mauled a penalty lineout from 20 metres out.
The ball was passed through the hands of the pack before Janaway went through the Chichester defence for an unconverted bonus-point try.
Chichester had the advantage of the wind in the second half and got on the scoreboard with a converted try.
Towards the end of the third quarter Petersfield were awarded a penalty ten metres out and Chichester lost a player to a yellow card.
Petersfield dominated from the scrum and Jackson Clark scooped up the ball and ran through the defence to touch down. Blumlein’s conversion made it 31-7.
Chichester received a yellow card with ten minutes left for a high tackle.
A maul five metres out under the posts released Clark to crash through to score a converted try.
A fumble by Petersfield led to Chichester running the ball from end to end to score an unconverted try in the closing minute.
