A Petersfield lighting manufacturer has turned his life’s work into art.
Toby Flack from London Road Electricians, has designed various wall light fittings for his LRE lighting exhibition at Gallery 30.
He said: “I’ve been an electrician all my life and I’ve put up over 10,000 lights and I thought it was about time I made my own light fittings.”
The electrician turned designer also said that the wheat field maquette models are designed to be displayed in hotels, cafes, restaurants, schools, libraries, hospitals, doctors surgeries, pubs and more.
They have all been developed, designed, framed and manufactured within a 4 mile radius of the gallery.
Nadine Travis, Gallery 30 owner, said: ‘The staff love them – they are buzzing! The diners all remark on them and some are measuring them up for their own homes.
“The level of chatter from the diners here in the restaurant is noticeably louder, too. They create such a relaxing environment.”
Toby added: ‘I have always felt that the original idea I had four years ago for these restaurant and lounge lights had some merit and was worth demonstrating.
“Who knows until you try and what better place to demonstrate a new light fitting for a restaurant, than in an already thriving restaurant?
“Early feedback from the staff and diners here has been very encouraging and the response from the private view on Wednesday was great. The interior designers and product buyers that came showed a lot of interest.”
The exhibition runs until Sunday, November 24.
