A councillor has pleaded with highway chiefs to give an East Hampshire village a new year break following a hefty spell of roadworks and closures.
Traffic is flowing freely again in Liss but it was hardly bliss throughout November and December.
Forest Road was closed for weeks, Warren Road was temporarily shut, and traffic lights were set on Hill Brow Road, Andlers Ash and Selborne Road.
And those, coupled with level crossing timings and the emergency closure of Reeds Lane and the B2070, meant every route into the village was affected.
“I have asked the Streetworks team to try and give Liss a break for a few months now,” said county councillor, Russell Oppenheimer, in admitting he had received concerns from villagers.
“There has been a lot of work in the area recently and it has been inconvenient.
“Most of the works are utility companies – HCC does sometimes reject licenses but recently this has not been possible due to the urgent nature.”
