East Hampshire’s busiest road is set for more overnight closures as a programme of bridge repair and replacement work has begun.

The southbound A3 between the A272 Berelands and the B2070 Buriton junction will be closed for the next two nights (Thursday and Friday, November 7 and 8).

The closures will be in place from 9pm to 6am with traffic being diverted through Petersfield via the A272 and B2070.

National Highways have also announced the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight between Horndean and Petersfield from November 11 to 20.

The closures, from 9pm to 6am, mean that traffic will be diverted via the A272, A32 and M27 – a considerable detour that was in place during the recent weekend closure of the A3 south of Petersfield.

The A3 Sheet interchange bridge will also close from 9pm to 6am on November 25 to 28, and on December 2 and 3, for resurfacing work.
