What do you if you’re scared of heights and want to help a charity set up in memory of your sister?
To quote Van Halen, you might as well jump.
Juliet Lawrence and her friend, Imy Sillitoe recently took their fundraising to new heights as the pair completed a 15,000ft skydive for Maddy’s Mark.
The charity was launched in memory of Maddy Lawrence, a former Churcher’s College student from Sheet who died from sepsis following a fortnight of treatment failures at a Bristol hospital.
The good cause was launched by her parents to promote positive mental health and well-being in young women through rugby.
Maddy’s sister, Juliet, and Imy raised more than £5,000 for the good cause after making the leap above Salisbury on May 18.
And although they are both terrified of heights, the pair would happily take to the skies again in memory of the rugby-loving sibling, who was just 20 when she died.
“It was completely amazing – the most amazing experience you could imagine,” said the pair.
“Doing this for Maddy makes it even more special. We would both do it again, but maybe not for a while.”
Future fundraising events for Maddy’s Mark include a sponsored swim at Churcher’s College on September 21 and a quiz at the same venue on October 11.
A another recent highlight was a Q&A with commentator and former England Cricket captain, Nasser Hussein, at the college with all proceeds from tickets sales and a raffle going to the charity.
